SAVE OUR SPECIES: ORANGUTANS

“There are only approximately 60,000 Orangutans left in the wild.”1 Orangutans’ habitats are mainly located in Indonesia and Malaysia. Their population continues to decrease due to the increase in palm oil plantations. Palm oil is one of the world’s most salient agricultural commodities, and is used in food ingredients and cooking oil. In Sumatra and Borneo there are currently over 7 million acres of land available, and yet corporations continue to destroy healthy rainforests. As a community, we need to address this issue, so that our younger generation can experience the beauty of this species.

BEE AGGRESSIVE:

Bee population is in sharp decline due to several factors. The most prevalent of which is the practice of shipping bees from international countries to pollinate food farms in the United States. The Almond Company, located in Chowchilla, CA, is one of the largest companies that utilize this practice. Bees need a diverse diet however after being shipped to California, they are only allowed to pollinate the almond trees because their is such a high demand for this product and the task needs to be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
